  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Pour the batter into greased cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely.
  8. For the chantilly cream, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add powdered sugar and whip until stiff peaks form.
  9. Once cakes are cooled, layer them with chantilly cream and mixed berries.
  10. Top with additional berries and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider infusing the syrup with vanilla or lemon zest.
