Pasta Bolognese Classic Italian

A delicious twist on traditional Bolognese using turkey bacon for a lighter flavor.

  • 500 grams ground turkey
  • 200 grams turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 400 grams canned tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 200 ml red wine
  • 200 ml beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 400 grams spaghetti
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook until soft.
  2. Add garlic and turkey bacon, cooking until the bacon is crispy.
  3. Stir in ground turkey and cook until browned.
  4. Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain.
  7. Serve sauce over spaghetti and top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • This recipe can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to three days.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the turkey bacon and ground turkey with plant-based alternatives.
