  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 pound pasta of choice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Brown the beef chuck roast on all sides, then transfer to the slow cooker.
  3. Add onions and garlic to the skillet and sauté until soft. Add to the slow cooker.
  4. Pour in beef broth, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  6. Shred the beef with two forks before serving.
  7. If using, cook pasta according to package instructions. Serve the ragu over the pasta.

  • For a richer flavor, allow the ragu to sit for an hour before serving.
