These sugar cookies are the perfect combination of soft and chewy, making them an irresistible treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased pans.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, dipped in confectioners’ sugar.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. Let cool on wire racks.
